About Us
SAPOS (South African Paediatric Orthopaedic Society) is a subgroup of the South African Orthopaedic Association (SAOA).
We consist of a group of Orthopaedic Surgeons that provides dedicated paediatric orthopaedic care in South Africa. We are committed to the ongoing education of ourselves, our peers and our patients to ensure quality, up to date care for children and adolescents with musculoskeletal disorders.
As a society, we provide guidance for clinicians across South Africa in the provision of care for patients under the most trying of circumstances. We also host an annual Instructional Course on any of a variety of subjects to ensure ongoing education of our members, our fellow orthopaedic surgeons and orthopaedic trainees.
We work closely with certain non-profit organisations that are involved with the musculoskeletal health of children, including STEPS (clubfoot), the Cerebral palsy Association of South Africa and Osteogenesis Imperfecta support groups.
